Got nervous for my physical Examination?

I went to go get a physical today and i got really nervous my blood pressure was 150/90 and my pulse was over 100. my normal resting pulse is 69 and i have never had problems with my blood pressure. But as soon as the doc walked in and slapped the cuff on me my heart rate skyrocketed. Is this normal and have any of you experienced this? if so how do you control your nervousness and relax?
