Laws against obscenity?

Say you're driving a car with spray painted swear words and vulgar symbols and phrases on it. What laws or such could you be hit with? I need this for a novel I'm writing, and need this question answered as soon as possible. I need some accurate professional sounding words so I don't look like an ametuer and an idiot. Thanks ^^
