No contact rule...does it work?

So ok me and my boyfriend kinda broke up, why do i say kinda? Because it seems he breaks up with me before major events but soon gets right back together with me. Like seriously the day before we hung out all was good the next day he just randomly flipped...(he does this every few months...) The longest we ever broke up was a month and that whole month we were fighting over text and fighting in school and i was begging him back and he did come back and this time I've just decide fighting isn't worth it i just haven't texted him in three days or seen him or anything, what makes me most upset is the fact I don't want to fight for us, I just want him to see how much he hurt me and say sorry and i don't know if I want us to get back together but i just want to see if he will text me and at least say sorry. Has this worked ever for you? This is the longest we've ever not spoken to each other (weird but w.e. lol). His status last night was "not feeling great =/ laying down watching movies" maybe it wasn't about us but he is creeping on my facebook =P and w.e. so I just was wondering did this work for you and how long before your ex contacted you? I'm giving him two weeks tops than giving up hope lol.
